Our story
A quiet breeding programme, devoted to one breed.
Summerfield Longdogs was born from a lifelong love of dachshunds and a conviction that they deserve breeders who put their welfare first — always.

The beginning
From one beloved companion to a lifelong calling.
It began with a single dachshund — a long haired girl named Iris — who quite simply changed our lives. Twenty years on, our small home programme is still built on the same belief: that breeding is a privilege, not a business, and that every puppy is owed a calm, loving start.
We are members of the Kennel Club Assured Breeder Scheme and proud to maintain the standards that come with it.
Our philosophy
Three quiet promises that shape everything we do.
01
Health, first and always
Every parent dog is fully screened. We never compromise on health testing — IVDD, hereditary eye conditions, patellas and cardiac. We breed only from sound, examined dogs.
02
Temperament you can feel
Calm, confident, sociable dachshunds. Our puppies are raised in the rhythm of family life and never in kennels — exposed gently to people, sounds and the everyday from day one.
03
Ethical, always small scale
One or two carefully planned litters a year. We choose families as carefully as we choose pairings, and we stay in touch for life.
Where they're raised
A peaceful corner of the English countryside.
Our dogs share our home and our garden — rolling fields, hedgerows, and the steady rhythm of country life. Puppies grow up underfoot: in the kitchen, by the fire, in the arms of children and friends. By the time they leave us, the world is already a familiar place.
